Workshops
Supporting Neurodiverse Students
These sessions give educators a better understanding of students with ADHD, ASD, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, and Dysgraphia. This workshop shines light on who your students are, how they might present on a daily basis, and why they might be experiencing difficulties in your classes. We not only provide current DSM information on these diagnoses, but, most importantly, also share tools and strategies for connecting with and supporting students with learning differences. Combining real-life examples with practicable solutions, we help teachers see their neurodiverse students in a new light and engage them more effectively.
Classroom Culture As Behavior Management
How we hold space and setup place for students influences their behavior. In this workshop, teachers will gain a better understanding of how many aspects of their classroom environment impact students behavior. We will dive into best practices, talk about practical practices, and explore preemptive positive behavior supports to better foster student engagement.
Fostering Relationships: Cultivating Teacher-Student Connections
Connection drives learning: student-to-student, student-to-content, and, most importantly, student-to-teacher. Studies have shown that teacher-student relationships not only foster engagement in the classroom, but also support students’ mental health. In this workshop, we offer a framework for understanding teacher-student relationships at your school, discuss methods of data collection and assessment, and provide strategies that your teachers can use to cultivate connections and foster relationships with their students.
This workshop can be conducted as a training for administrators to utilize for their own staff development or can be done directly with faculty.
Executive Functioning for the Classroom
Executive functioning support is something that all students need to help them grow into stronger learners. In this workshop, we explain the various aspects of executive functioning and discuss how to incorporate executive functioning strategies in the classroom.
Rethinking the Place, Process, and Purpose of Learning
In working with neurodiverse and neurotypical students across educational settings, we have seen how impactful space and modality are on student engagement, behavior, and wellbeing. This workshop allows educators to explore multiple methods of processing to foster student creativity and learning.
Wellness Series: School-Wide Framework for Supporting Student Wellness
Working towards student wellness is not simply achieved by having one class, a social-emotional lesson, or a calm space or wellness center. It must be addressed and incorporated at every level of a school from lesson plans to community events. Our Wellness Series is intended as a reframing of your school’s approach to education to include aspects that build towards student wellness. In these sessions, we discuss the 5 areas of wellness that can be supported and impacted at school: social, emotional, intellectual, physical, and environmental. Within each area, we provide guiding questions and strategies to aid in incorporating wellness into all of your school.
